Another great lake getting better! Fishiding structures- created by David Ewald- made from vinyl siding offer excellent shallow and deep water habitat for all fish species. Easy to transport and deploy and they will last many years.

Turning Loose the Tigers

If you want to kick up your bass genetics or you can’t wait two years to start fishing a new lake, stocking advanced F1s is a great option. We were able to ‘fast track’ this recently renovated lake by stocking a ton of bluegills and adult Tiger Bass (courtesy of American Sportfish). If you have an established lake it will be important to assess your bass and prey populations before adding additional adult bass. Selective harvest via electrofishing will help fine tune your overall population densities to insure proper growth. Can’t wait to see these guys in the fall! War Eagle!

Fish Habitat

Just completed some natural ‘recycling’ by adding Christmas trees and pallet structures to one of our lakes. Save the landfills and give your bass and bluegill some great habitat. Great place to drop a plastic worm or rip a crankbait through as well!

My son and I got to spend a few hours fishing today and got into a bunch of bank runners. They are now resting in the freezer.

New Lake

We’ve been working on this one a while, after permitting completed it clicked right along. A relatively small pond but has all the goodies necessary to grow some great bass and panfish- excellent water quality, aeration, fish structures. Shoreline stabilized properly with sod will help negate erosion and siltation. Can’t wait to put the fish in and grow ‘em up.

Fish Feeders

This is a great time to take a look at your fish feeders. Make sure your batteries are fully charging or if you’re shutting down for the winter, remove your batteries and keep charged over the winter. Often times there will be remnant fish food dust built up around the blower chute. Doing some spring cleaning now will help insure smooth operation through the colder months or for quick startup in the spring.
